This made me choke on my coffee and muffin. Having the phrase “professional software engineer” and the word “JavaScript” in the same article is an affront to the profession that I know and love. I’ve been a professional software engineer for over 30 years. I’ve worked in nearly all areas of IT. I’ve used a variety of solid software engineering languages like Fortran, Tandem TAL, C, C++, C#, Smalltalk, Python, Java, Objective-C and Go. I know what a proper software engineering language looks like, and JavaScript definitely does not fit the description. It saddens me that so much of the IT community has been bamboozled by all of this JavaScript hype. They’ve all drunk the Kool-Aid and I need to make them sober up!
