There is absolutely no reason why a professional programming language can't be small, simple and easy to learn. Veteran software engineers (like myself) appreciate the low cognitive overhead of such languages. In fact, I'm a huge fan of Smalltalk for this reason.

I also favour languages like Elixir and Go for the same reason.
