Smalltalk was really big in the 1980s and 1990s. It reached its zenith when IBM adopted Smalltalk for their VisualAge enterprise initiative.
Then Java from Sun Microsystems arrived in 1995. Sun's powerful marketing overtook the programming community. The hype was enormous.
Shortly afterwards, Smalltalk's popularity was undermined. Smalltalk made the mistake of not being ready for the Internet. And the rest is history.
That's why I'm trying to revive Smalltalk through my nonprofit organization, Smalltalk Renaissance.
