Smalltalk and Forth are very much different. Smalltalk is all graphical; Forth is all command line. Smalltalk is much easier for humans to grasp (even for young children); Forth looks like an alien language. Smalltalk is proven for high productivity; Forth isn't. Smalltalk is proven for high scalability; Forth isn't.

Today, Smalltalk has a much larger user community than Forth does. Smalltalk is still used by enterprises around the world supported by no fewer than three major Smalltalk vendors. Forth? It's practically invisible.

The Smalltalk advantages are hardly "marginal." Cutting your development time in half is HUGE. Easily scaling your project is HUGE. Only people who haven't kept pace with its development would make such as assertion.
