My Smalltalk advocacy has never been about me. I get absolutely nothing out of this. I do it for the good of the language. In other words, it’s purely an act of altruism.
I chose to become a Smalltalk advocate because I saw a need for strong advocacy and I saw that no one else was stepping up to the plate. Any advocacy effort that I’ve seen over the past 20 years has been half-hearted and ineffective. So I made this my personal calling.
It’s true that I’m not a Smalltalk expert, but you don’t have to be in order to be an advocate. I know enough about the language to do the one important job that needs to be done: market the Smalltalk language to the public through social media.
