Major programming languages are slow to die. Very slow. It takes decades to lose substantial market share from their peak.
That's because the installed base of applications needs to be maintained and extended for many years. Multiply this for thousands of major enterprises and there's no way such languages will "lose relevance."
C++ is a case in point. So is Java.
At Indeed.com, Java still has the second highest number of job postings. C++, the third highest.
