Like I said, “The metric isn’t perfect but it provides a reasonable indicator of complexity.” The metric works reasonably well for most of the languages on my list. There are, of course, exceptions. And I never pretended that this metric tells the whole story. Brainfuck is definitely a pain to use. APL is definitely arcane.

But can anyone deny that C++, C#, Swift, and Kotlin are much more complex languages than Python, C, Go, and Smalltalk? How about JavaScript vs Scheme, or Rust vs C? The metric definitely works in a general, overall sense.
