I appreciate that the delay in Redline’s development has frustrated some people. Unfortunately, Redline was pretty much a one-man operation and James had other obligations in his life. While I respect Clojure, I’m not a big fan of Lisp and Smalltalk offers too many advantages to ignore. That’s why I decided to join the project to help it along. I could’ve worked on the Pharo project, for example, but Pharo doesn’t really need me. Redline does. There aren’t enough volunteer Smalltalkers to go around for all the open source projects out there.
You’ve moved on from the JVM, but many developers and businesses can’t or won’t — they have too much invested. And JVM is a fantastic, nearly-universal platform.
