I’m saddened that Apple chose to veer away from the Smalltalk roots. Swift could’ve been based on Smalltalk instead of assuming the complex, Scala-like nature we see today (yuck!). They lost something and I’m not sure they gained anything. Everything at Apple went to hell in a handbasket ever since Steve Jobs passed.
