I would be remiss if I didn’t mention several other excellent choices of transpiled languages (see The Super Surrogates of JavaScript). First, there is Amber Smalltalk. Smalltalk is a much overlooked programming language today. It has fabulous qualities that everyone should be made aware of.

There are also Brython and Transcrypt for Python lovers.

Opal is one to watch out for if you’re a Ruby fan.

If you like Scala, then seriously consider Scala.js.

With so many wonderful alternatives to using JavaScript directly for client-side applications, I hope the IT industry comes to its senses and stop propping up this horrible language.
