Utter nonsense. Western sanctions have not "nearly backfired." They've backfired big time, crippling EU and UK.
Russia's economy is doing about as well today as it did before the war started. It has suffered some setbacks but nothing dire. Western sanctions have completely failed to meet their objectives.
